Luonan is located in the south of Mount Hua and is the source of the Luohe River, where the Huayang Pool was constructed in the Zhou Dynasty (1046-256BC), Huayang County was established during the Qin Dynasty (221-207BC). It is adjacent to the city of Lushi County and Lingbao City in Henan Province in the east, and borders Huaxian County and Lantian County in the west. It is close to Danfeng County and Shangzhou District in the south. In the north, it is bordered by Huayin County and Tongguan County.
Luonan is abundant in historical and cultural heritage and unique in excellent traditional cultural resources. The Huashilang Site and the Paleolithic Sites in Luonan Basin have been declared as the cultural relics under national protection by the State Council. The Legend of Cangjie and Jingbanshu Opera are included in the national intangible culture heritage list. Luonan County is also known as “the hometown of Chinese characters.”
In recent years, Luonan County has focused on the construction of characteristic towns. The Rose Town and the Music Town have attracted many tourists to visit.
