The wonderful “waterfall” in Hanzhong
On July 14th, visitors were enjoying the flood water discharged from the Shimen Reservoir of Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province. In recent days, the successive rainfall along the Hanjiang River caused a constant rise of the water level at the Shimen Reservoir. In order to guarantee the normal operation of the hydraulic engineering, relieve the pressure from the flood defense of the Shimen Dam, and safeguard the property of the residents downstream, the pre-arranged plan was instantly launched. The irregular floods discharged can reach 1,900m3/s per day. Seen from a distance, the roaring Baohe River poured itself down through dam holes, like a growling dragon and a spectacular “waterfall”, attracting swarms of visitors.
