Enjoying the magnificent Yijun dry-land terraces in May

The dry-land terraces are located in Kuquan Town, Yijun County, Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province. Here, in the north of the Weihe Plain shows the gradual transition to the Loess Plateau where hills and gullies are scattered around. Since the 1980s, Yijun County has been vigorously and relentlessly popularizing maize growing with plastic film mulching, and terraces have become the main cultivation land for locals.

As approaching the plateau, you can see the terraced stairs, where harvests in autumn comes from ploughing in spring. During late spring and early summer, plastic film-mulched maize covering thousands of mu (1 mu=0.16 acre) gives the appearance of ribbons winding from the foot to the top of the mountain. The snail-like hills and tower-like mountains with clear lines constitute a marvelous landscape.
