Longzhou Canyon in Jinbian County, Shaanxi Province

Jinbian Longzhou Canyon is located in Longzhou Basin, so it is called Longzhou Danxia; it is also called Jinbian Wave Valley for it is as beautiful as the Wave Valley in the western United States. It is located in Yanjia Village, 22 km away from the southeast of Jinbian County in Yulin, Shaanxi Province.

Jinbian Wave Valley is a wonder world formed through millions of years’ sculpture of sandstone by wind, water, and time. Rocks of Jinbian Wave Valley have complex layers which are formed by giant sand dune deposition from Jurassic Period. The sand dune was covered by layers and layers of red sand soaked by underground water, after a considerable period of time, mineral substance in water coagulated the sand into sandstone, and formed the layer structure.

Looking from afar, it seems like a massif piled up by red rocks, having nothing special. But when you go inside along the trace of red rocks, your vision will suddenly become extensive: a ditch looking like a canyon lies across in front, bright as red glow, full of jagged rocks, stone pillars stand erect in different poses, which will bring you strong visual impact. You will fall in the exclamation of the extremely fine craftsmanship of the nature.
