So Charming--- Millennial Ancient Temple, Millennial Maidenhair Tree

The Ancient Guanyin Temple in Zhongnan Mountain in Xi’an was built in Zhenguan period of Tang Dynasty (628A.D.). It reached a considerable size at that time, covering an area of 300 mu. It has gate, audience hall, bell tower, and Yunshui Hut, and is one of millennial temples in Zhongnan Mountain.

There is a big platform behind the rear court room of Guanyin Temple, and in the center of the platform stands a maidenhair tree, which is over twenty meters high, has a diameter of three meters, and the leaves are so luxuriant that can cover the sun. It is said that this tree was planted by Li Shiming - Emperor Taizong of Tang, and has a history of over 1,400 years. We can know the extreme long history of Guanyin Temple by this.

In late autumn and early winter, the fallen golden yellow leaves of the maidenhair tree cover the ground like a golden carpet. People coming to see the fallen leaves come and go in constant streams.
